Which hob type — gas, ceramic or induction — will suit my cooking style best?

If you want instant, visible flame control for wok or high-heat cooking, a gas hob is ideal. Ceramic hobs give a smooth glass surface that's easy to clean and suits gentle, everyday cooking; Electrolux offers several 60cm ceramic models in black glass. Induction is the most efficient and fastest option, Electrolux induction hobs include PowerBoost for rapid heating and are available in 60cm and larger 80cm formats; remember induction needs magnetic cookware, so your pans must be compatible. For open-plan kitchens you can also choose a venting induction model that extracts steam and smells from the hob itself.

What width should I choose for my kitchen worktop?

Measure your worktop cut-out and the space available: Electrolux hobs here come in common widths such as 560mm, 590–595mm, 744–780mm and larger 800–857mm (80–85cm). A 60cm (≈595mm) hob suits most small to medium kitchens and fits standard cut-outs, while a 75–85cm hob gives extra burners and suits a family kitchen or if you often use several pans at once. If you have a compact galley, a 56cm or 59cm model will save space and still deliver four cooking zones.

How many cooking zones do I really need — four or five?

Four zones are enough for most households and many Electrolux hobs on the list are four-zone models, giving a good balance of capacity and worktop space. Choose five zones if you frequently cook with multiple pots and pans at once or want a dedicated simmer zone; several 75–85cm gas models provide that extra flexibility. Note that PowerBoost on induction can speed up one zone significantly, so you might get the same practical outcome with fewer zones.

Which control type is most practical — rotary dials, touch or slider?

Rotary dials give tactile, immediate control and work well if you cook quickly or have wet hands; they're also standard on many gas hobs. Touch and touch-slider controls provide a sleek, flush look that's easier to wipe clean and suits a modern kitchen, though they can be slightly less responsive with damp fingers. Sliders offer very precise heat adjustments, which is helpful for delicate tasks such as melting chocolate or a slow simmer.

What does a venting induction hob do, and when is it useful?

A venting induction hob combines induction cooking with an integrated extractor built into the hob surface, so steam and smells are drawn down at source rather than needing an overhead hood, the Electrolux LCC83443 is an 80cm venting flex induction in black glass. It's particularly useful for island or open-plan kitchens where a ceiling hood would interrupt sightlines, and it keeps the kitchen air cleaner without a separate canopy. Bear in mind these models are typically higher priced but give a very neat, modern solution.
