How do I choose the right size and heat output for my room?

Match the radiator's BTU output band to your room's heat loss and the physical space you have. Our range shows outputs from under 1,000 BTU right up to 10,000-25,000 BTU and sizes from compact widths (400-600mm) to large panels (over 2,000mm wide and up to 2,200mm high). a small bathroom will often be met by radiators in the 1,000-2,000 BTU band and a compact 300-600mm height, while a large living room might need something in the 4,000-8,000 BTU band with a wider or taller double-panel model. If you're unsure, look for the BTU band that most closely matches your room calculation and then pick a width/height that fits the wall space.

What's the difference between Compact, Planar, Elite and LST ranges, and which is best for my room?

Compact radiators are efficient, practical panels that suit most rooms; Planar is a sleeker, contemporary range for a modern look; Elite gives a simple, budget-friendly option; and LST (low surface temperature) is designed for safety in healthcare, schools or where you need a cool-to-touch surface. If you want a slim, modern focal point choose Planar (also available in vertical styles), while for a family bathroom or a care setting LST gives peace of mind thanks to its safety focus. Compact or Elite are sensible choices if you want high heat output at a lower cost.

What do Type 11, Type 21 and Type 22 mean, and how do they affect performance?

Those Type numbers describe panel and convector layers: Type 11 is one panel, one convector (slimmer and lower output), Type 21 is two panels, one convector (more heat with modest depth), and Type 22 is two panels, two convectors (higher output and greater depth). So for a tight alcove under a window you might pick a Type 11 to save space, whereas a living room or open plan area often benefits from a Type 22 to deliver more heat without needing excessive width. Triple-panel types are also available when you need very high output from a compact footprint.

Will Stelrad radiators work with my heat pump or other low-temperature systems?

Yes, many Stelrad models are designed to work seamlessly with traditional boilers and modern low-temperature systems such as heat pumps. To compensate for the lower water temperature you'll usually select a larger surface area or a higher output model (a double panel double convector or a taller vertical unit) to achieve the same room temperature. A vertical Planar or a taller Compact K2 is a practical choice if you're switching to a heat pump and want both style and higher output.

Can I get vertical radiators or different finishes to suit my decor?

You can, the range includes both horizontal and vertical orientations, with vertical options available in taller sizes (1,600-2,200mm heights and slim widths such as 400mm), making them ideal for narrow wall spaces or as a design statement. Finishes range from clean, contemporary panels to more traditional profiles like the Deco and Elite styles, so you can pick a minimalist Planar for a modern kitchen or a Compact/Deco unit to match a classic bathroom. a 1,800 x 400mm Planar vertical gives a dramatic, space-saving focal point in a hallway.
