Description
Switch operated
These extractor fans are operated using the light switch for your bathroom. A simple flick of the switch and excess humidity from a shower or long bath can be extracted until you turn the light back off. For extended extractor you may want to consider one with a timer or humidistat.
Recessed Design
Recessed fans can be installed through a wall, window or alternatively the ceiling giving you that extra bit of flexibility.
Axial
Axial type fans cause gas to flow through in an axial direction which is parallel to the shaft where the blades rotate, making the flow axial at exit and entry. Axial fans are designed to create a pressure difference and force which produces a flow through the fan.
IPX4 Rating
This product has a rating of IPX4 which means it is protected from water splashes from any angle.
Zone 1 Rated
IP rating stands for 'Ingress Protection rating' and this helps us determine what bathroom electricals can go in particular bathroom zones. An IP (Ingress Protection) number or code is used here in the UK to specify the environmental protection of enclosures around electronic equipment. These ratings are determined by specific tests.
These extractor fans can be fitted within Zone 1 as shown below.
With extractor fans the majority of noise comes from the movement of air and the motor. To reduce these levels Xpelair have introduced a new feature known as Ghost Air Movement Technology. Long-life silent operating motors are combined with precision engineered parts to remove all mechanical noise.
The C6S features a 150mm (6 inch) square baffle fascia and is typically connected to the room lighting circuit.
This is possible thanks to the So Simple quick-fit clamp that allows the extractor to be secured simply to panels and ceilings. Added larger cable slots enable easier wiring too!
Accurate fan alignment is ensured during installation with the three adjustable radial screw fixing points.

Delivered quickly and in good condition
Fan was good value and works really well, it's not quite as quiet as hoped but is a small complaint.

Simply not too silent
I'll be honest, it's not the faint whizzing sound I hoped for but it's a squillion times quieter than the useless extractor hood! Works well enough and was a great price so no complaints from me!

Avoid - poor quality and not even nearly 'Silent'
This has been a total disappointment. When it's running normally, it's seriously loud, even on low-power mode. It's bang out-of-order that Xpelair sells these as 'Simply Silent' with 'Ghost Air' technology. Ghosts riding lawn mowers, maybe. But ours has quality issues too: after five minutes it starts clicking, and the cover doesn't fit properly - if you click it on fully, the spindle jams, meaning it won't run. It's being removed, at some expense, and replaced with a different brand altogether.
