What are the real differences between granite composite, fireclay and stainless steel coloured sinks, and which might suit your kitchen best?

The range includes many granite composite sinks, a good number of fireclay options and some stainless steel models so you can match look and use. Granite composite gives you a matt, stone-like finish in colours such as black, grey or white and is commonly offered in single and 1.5 bowl sizes for everyday durability. Fireclay, seen in Belfast and inset styles like the Eastlake models, gives a glossy, traditional look that suits classic kitchens. Stainless steel is practical and modern, often used in undermount or inset rectangular shapes if you need a slim, technical aesthetic.

How do I choose the right bowl configuration and size for my daily routine?

There are one-bowls, 1.5-bowls and two-bowls in the range, and sizes commonly shown include 540 x 440mm, 560 x 440mm, 790 x 510mm and 1000 x 500mm. If you mostly wash pans by hand in a compact kitchen, a single bowl around 540–560 x 440mm is practical. For family kitchens where you rinse and stack, a 1.5 bowl on a 1000 x 500mm sink like the Rangemaster Elements gives space for food prep and drying. Two bowls suit heavy multitasking but take more worktop space, so check the model dimensions against your unit.

How do drainer options affect how you use the sink and worktop?

The category includes left or right hand drainer options, and many models have no drainer at all (about 83), so you can tailor use to your layout. A right-hand drainer, shown on several Reginox and Sauber models, makes washing and draining simple if your washing area is on that side. If you prefer a sleek, integrated look or want extra prep space, choose a sink with no drainer and rely on a drying rack. Also note some sinks come with a glass surround or integrated drainer detail that changes the visual emphasis, for example the Sauber with a black glass surround and right hand drainer.

Will a coloured sink show stains, scratches or heat marks more than a stainless steel one?

Lighter colours such as white or cream can show tea and coffee stains more obviously than darker tones like black or grey, and you'll find a wide choice of both light and dark finishes across ceramic, granite and composite ranges. Granite composite and modern glazed fireclay finishes are generally resistant to everyday scratching and staining and are offered in many of the listed models, while stainless steel tends to show watermarks but hides minor marks from use. To keep any coloured finish looking its best, wipe away residues promptly and use non-abrasive cleaners suitable for the material.

Do coloured sinks come with pre-drilled tap holes, and how does that affect the taps you can fit?

Yes, our range shows sinks with 0 pre-drilled holes, 1 hole and 2 holes. so you can choose a model that matches your tap plan. If you want a deck-mounted mixer, pick a sink with one or two pre-drilled holes; if you prefer a tap mounted on the worktop or a separate spray, choose a zero-hole sink for flexibility. For example, many Reginox Amsterdam undermount/inset granite sinks are offered both with and without tap holes, letting you match the sink to your chosen tap layout.
