How do I measure your bath so you buy a panel that fits?

Measure the full external length of the bath from the outer rim to the opposite outer rim, common lengths stocked are 1600mm, 1700mm and 1800mm, with many products listed at 1700mm. Next measure the panel height from the floor to the top edge of the bath; most panels fall into 480–499mm or 500–599mm height ranges. If you have an end section that's shorter or deeper, note its width too. Typical end panels are around 700–750mm so a 1700/700 pack often fits a standard bath and end.

Which material should you choose, MDF, acrylic, MFC or real wood?

MDF is the most common option here and gives a good balance of cost and finish, with many white gloss and coloured MDF panels available. Acrylic panels give a smoother, more water-resistant glossy surface, ideal for wet family bathrooms. MFC (melamine-faced chipboard) and LDF are more hard-wearing at the surface and suit higher-use areas, while oak or real wooden panels give an authentic, warm look but need careful moisture management. If you want low maintenance and a modern sheen, go acrylic; if you want variety and value, MDF is a reliable choice.

Do you need a side panel, an end panel or a side-and-end pack?

A side panel covers the long edge of the bath and an end panel covers the short end where plumbing often sits; a side-and-end pack gives you both in matching finishes. For a standard straight bath you'll typically buy a 1700mm side panel plus a c.700mm end panel, or simply choose a 1700/700 pack for a guaranteed match. If your bath is P-shaped, L-shaped or a shower bath, look specifically at the small number of P-shape and L-shape panels available rather than standard straight panels.

How do you pick a finish to match a modern or traditional bathroom?

For a contemporary look choose white or grey gloss panels and for a more striking contrast, consider a black gloss. For a traditional bathroom, tongue-and-groove profiles or Park Lane Winchester matt colours (green, blue or dark grey) and oak wood finishes create classic character. A Park Lane matt green side-and-end pack will complement a traditional brass mixer, while a white gloss MDF side panel suits chrome fittings and minimalist tiles.

Are there panels that give you extra storage or suit shower bath shapes?

Yes, storage bath panels are offered which hide the plumbing and provide accessible internal space for toiletries. Shower baths need L-shaped or shower-specific panels; you'll find L-shaped shower bath panels such as 1700/680mm packs and smaller L-shaped end pieces for boxed shower ends. P-shaped baths are less common but there are specific P-shape panels available, so match the panel type to the bath shape rather than forcing a straight panel.
