How do I identify the correct replacement cartridge for my shower?

Start by noting the brand and model stamped on the valve or in your user manual; cartridges are often brand and range specific. Aqualisa uses colour-coded cartridges such as 022801 (grey) for gravity and high-pressure systems, 022803 (green) for high-pressure only, and 022802 (pink) for combi multipoint systems. Architeckt and Merano also make dedicated cartridges for mixer showers and shower towers, while Mira 722 uses a particular thermostat assembly (901.11). If you can, remove the old cartridge and copy any part numbers before you buy.

Can I add a wireless remote to my existing smart shower?

You can if your shower is a compatible smart model and you choose the correct remote for single or dual outlet systems. Aqualisa offers the Optic Q wireless remote and Unity Q remotes in specific versions for single-outlet and dual-outlet models (UTQ.B3.DS.23 and UTQ.B3.DVDS.23). Mira also supplies a compatible wireless remote for its Activate range. Check your shower's range and outlet configuration to match the correct remote.

What's the practical difference between replacing a shower head, handset or hose?

A fixed shower head gives a broader, rainfall-style coverage and suits good-flow systems, whereas a handset is more flexible for rinsing and targeted washdown. Hoses come in styles and finishes, such as Merano's black hose or chrome Architeckt hoses, and can change the look and feel of the set-up. Replace a worn hose to stop leaks, fit a larger head for a spa feel if your system's flow can support it, or fit a new handset if you need better reach.

Are some spares universal or are they brand-specific?

Small hardware like screws, washers and some brackets can be fairly universal, but core parts such as thermostatic cartridges, remotes and handle assemblies are usually brand and range specific. Architeckt offers tailored cartridges and thermostatic parts for its mixer showers and shower towers, and Triton supplies a retro-fit plate specifically for ENVi electric showers. Always match the spare to the shower's brand and range to ensure correct fit and function.

How do pressure types affect which spare parts you should buy?

Your water supply type,gravity, high-pressure (mains or pump) or combi boiler,dictates which cartridges and valves will work correctly. Aqualisa's grey 022801 cartridge covers gravity and high-pressure, the green 022803 is for high-pressure only, while the pink 022802 is for combi/multipoint systems. Fit the wrong pressure-rated cartridge and you may get poor temperature control or reduced flow. Identify your system type first, then match the cartridge designated for that pressure class.
