How do I choose the right bath length for my bathroom?

Double-ended baths are symmetrical with sloped ends, so taps are usually centre-mounted and you can access the bath from either end, ideal if you want a more balanced, freestanding look. Slipper baths have a raised, sculpted end to support your back for a deeper recline, which is great if you favour long, relaxing soaks.

Which bath material gives the best heat retention and long‑term durability?

Acrylic is the most common material here: it's lightweight, warm to the touch and cost‑effective, though it can mark more easily than steel. Carronite and mineral resin or solid surface baths offer superior rigidity, a thicker feel and better heat retention, so they suit whirlpool or luxury freestanding models. Steel baths are extremely durable and scratch-resistant but feel cooler initially; choose steel if you want a long-lasting, hard-wearing finish.

When do I need a side panel or a side and end panel?

Yes, shower baths are specifically designed for that use, with shower-bath listings and dedicated L-shaped and P-shaped options that give extra showering space at one end. Many L-shaped and P-shaped baths are offered in bundles with shower screens and panels such as 1700 x 850 mm L-shaped models with screens included, making them a practical choice for a combined bath/shower in a smaller bathroom. If you want a straight bath with a shower, look for models sold with a shower screen or buy a screen separately; note that only some listings include screens as standard.
