How do I decide between single, double and triple panel radiators for my room?

Look at the heat output you need and the space the radiator can occupy. Single panels (Type 11 / K1) are shallower and ideal for small rooms or where you want minimal projection, a 600 x 800mm single panel for a small bedroom. Double panels (Type 21 / K2) give significantly more output without a huge height increase, a 600 x 1200mm double panel is a common choice for medium living rooms. Triple panels give the highest output and are best when wall space is unconstrained but you need maximum heat.

Should I choose a vertical designer radiator or a horizontal panel model?

Choose vertical if you have limited horizontal wall space or want a statement look; many Solaro vertical designer radiators come in heights like 1800mm and narrow widths (1800 x 375mm Guardia), so they free up skirting and floor area. Horizontal panel radiators suit standard layouts under windows and are available in many widths (600–1400mm and beyond) and heights (600mm is very common). If you need a lot of output but have low wall height, a wider horizontal double panel will usually deliver more heat than a slim vertical.

Which finish and material work best in a bathroom versus a living room?

In bathrooms you'll often want corrosion-resistant, easy-clean finishes, matt white or matt anthracite aluminium designer radiators (eg Guardia in matt white) are popular and practical. For living rooms a matt anthracite or black finish creates a contemporary focal point, while chrome or polished aluminium (the Lambourne in chrome) gives a sleek, reflective finish that suits modern interiors. Aluminium models heat up quickly and are lighter to fit, while steel panel radiators are typically more traditional and robust.

How can I estimate the right height and width so the radiator gives enough heat?

Use the radiator's included in our range height and width together with its panel configuration to judge output: taller heights (1200mm or 1800mm) and double/triple panels increase BTU, while shallow single panels give less. our range shows heights commonly at 600mm, 1200mm and 1800mm, and widths from under 300mm up to 1600mm or more, so a 1800 x 540mm vertical will deliver far more heat than a 600 x 400mm single panel. If you need a quick rule of thumb, increase either height or panel depth (single → double) to raise output rather than only increasing width.

Are electric Solaro radiators a good option if I don't have central heating?

Yes, there are electric models (the Solaro Derwent 1800 x 504mm electric aluminium radiator) designed for rooms without central heating or for additional zoned warmth. Electric aluminium radiators heat up quickly and are easy to install because they need no pipework, but they will run on mains electricity so running costs are higher than a well-sized central-heating radiator. Many people use an electric designer radiator in loft conversions, summer houses or as a boost in bathrooms where central heating is absent.
