Which bath shape will work best in my bathroom, straight, double-ended, freestanding or a shower/bath hybrid?

Think about how you'll use the space: a straight or single-ended bath is space-efficient and common for alcoves, while a double-ended bath gives you a comfortable back-rest at either end for two-person soaking. Freestanding baths make a strong visual feature and suit larger bathrooms, you'll find many freestanding options around 1500–1700mm. If you need a shower too, choose an L-shape or P-shape shower bath so you get both functions without losing floor space.

Which bath material should I choose, acrylic, Carronite, steel or something more luxurious like copper?

Acrylic is the most common material here because it's lightweight, warm to the touch and suits many shapes and budgets. Carronite gives greater rigidity and durability if you want a firmer, longer-lasting finish, and steel is very hard-wearing though heavier and cooler to touch. For a premium look and unique patina, copper options are available in small runs; solid-surface baths are also offered if you prefer a tactile, matt finish.

My bathroom has an alcove, do I need a side panel or a side and end panel?

For an alcove you'll typically need a side panel that covers the long side of the bath; the product filters and descriptions clearly mark "Side Panel: For the longest side of the bath." If you're fitting a corner bath, choose a side and end panel set to cover both the long and short sides. A 1700 x 700mm alcove bath usually pairs with a matching side panel, while a 1700 x 850mm corner model needs the side & end panel set.

What length and width should I pick, are there standard sizes I should start with?

Start with the room's usable floor space: most of our stock clusters around 1601–1700mm in length and widths of 700–799mm, so 1700 x 700/750mm is a very common, practical choice for a family bathroom. If your bathroom is compact, a 1600 x 700mm bath will save space without sacrificing comfort; for a roomier soak, look at 1800 x 800mm or larger. Match the size to door clearances and any vanity or WC positions to avoid surprises.

I want a shower over the bath, should I buy a bath with a screen included or add one later?

There are many bundles that include a shower screen, which gives you a matched solution and often a better fit for the bath profile. L-shaped shower bath bundles at 1700mm typically come with a screen and front/end panels. If you prefer flexibility, you can buy a bath without a screen and select a screen to suit your tiles and shower head placement. Choosing a pre-bundled bath plus screen reduces the chance of mismatch between the bath edge and the glass panel.
