How do I know which seat shape and size will fit my toilet pan?

Measure the hole-centre width of your pan and match it to the seat ranges shown, many seats suit 101–150 mm or 151–200 mm centres, while a few cover 51–100 mm or up to 201–250 mm. Shape matters too: D-shape seats are common on contemporary close-coupled pans, round seats suit traditional bowls and compact cloakrooms, and square seats pair well with modern designer pans. an Affine D-shape seat will sit neatly on most modern close-coupled bowls, while a round Ceramica seat fits older, round-front pans.

Are plastic toilet seats durable and hygienic or do they feel cheap?

Modern heavyweight thermoplastic and ABS seats are rigid, scratch resistant and warm to the touch, so they do not feel cheap or flimsy. Some models include anti-bacterial materials to help keep the seat hygienic, and many have a two-year guarantee for peace of mind. If you want an even more robust option, look for urea-formaldehyde or moulded wood alternatives included in our range alongside the plastic range.

Is a soft-close seat worth the extra cost?

Soft-close seats prevent slamming and reduce wear on the pan and hinges, and 35 of the seats in this range offer that feature, so it's a popular upgrade. They are particularly useful in family bathrooms or overnight use where noise matters; for a cloakroom you might prefer a budget, non-soft-close model. If you want a quiet, premium feel, models like the Affine Slim soft-close are good examples.

Which hinge material should I choose: plastic, chrome-plated or stainless steel?

Plastic hinges are economical and fine for light use, chrome-plated hinges look smart and resist corrosion, while stainless steel hinges offer the greatest durability for frequent use; the range includes about 28 plastic, 11 chrome-plated and 12 stainless steel hinge options. For a busy family bathroom choose stainless steel for long-term strength; for an occasional cloakroom a plastic-hinged model will do the job without the higher price.

What are the advantages of quick-release, top-fix and bottom-fix hinges?
