How do I choose the right size single ended bath for my bathroom?

First measure the space where the bath will sit and allow a little room for panels and taps. Most single ended baths here come in common lengths such as 1500, 1600, 1700 and 1800 mm, with the majority clustered around 1600–1700 mm and widths typically 700–750 mm. If you have a standard family bathroom you'll usually be comfortable with a 1700 x 700 mm bath; for a tighter en-suite a 1500 or 1600 mm model will save floor space. If you want a more spacious internal area without a bigger exterior, look at wide square or curved designs in the same external length.

What are the differences between acrylic, Carronite and steel baths and which is best for me?

Acrylic baths (the largest group here) are lightweight, warm to the touch and usually the most affordable, making them a good all-round choice. Steel baths are heavier and enamelled, very hard wearing but colder to touch and more difficult to move during installation. Carronite is offered as a mid/upper-range material and gives a firmer, more solid feel than standard acrylic, so it can suit you if you want a heftier, premium bath. Choose acrylic for heat retention and ease, steel for long-term durability, and Carronite if you want a solid, premium sensation without the weight of steel.

Can I use a single ended bath as a shower bath and will I need a screen?

Yes, single ended baths are often used as shower baths and can be fitted with a shower and screen to make a flexible wash area. Most single ended baths in our range do not include a screen, so you'll normally buy a glass screen separately to suit the bath's straight or curved side. If you plan to shower frequently, a straight 1700 x 750 mm bath with a frameless screen or a J-shaped shower bath with a wider shower end are practical choices.

Do I need a side panel or side and end panels for my bath?

That depends on how you're siting the bath. If the bath goes into an alcove you only need a side panel for the long side, while a corner installation requires a side and end panel set to cover both exposed edges. products in our range show options labelled None, Side Panel or Side & End Panel, so pick the panel configuration that matches your installation type. a 1700 x 700 mm bath into an alcove will typically need a matching side panel.

How do the different bath shapes affect comfort and space, straight, curved, J-shaped or wide square?

Straight baths are the most space-efficient and traditional option, suitable for most bathrooms and the majority of products in our range. Curved and wide square baths give you extra internal bathing room without needing a much larger external footprint, so they're good if you want more elbow and leg space. J-shaped baths and P or L-shaped shower baths have a wider end that works well if you want to combine bathing with regular showering. a curved 1700 x 700 mm model will feel roomier inside than a straight bath of the same external dimensions.
