Return to page 1 of Triton Showers by Power Rating

Getting the right flow rate is important when looking to purchase a new shower and here we have a breakdown of the different options available for Triton electric showers. The flow rate will depend on a number of factors such as your electrical circuit and wiring, the kilowatt of the shower itself and your water pressure. Generally the higher the kilowatt the better performance you'll see from the shower but it is crucial that an electrician confirms which suits the requirements of your home.

Shower Type

Electric Shower: Requires cold water only. Water is heated by an electrical heating element for hot water on demand.

Mixer Shower: Includes bar mixer, concealed mixer and exposed mixer. These showers require hot and cold feeds that are mixed and differ by installation style.

Digital Shower: Requires hot and cold feeds. Uses a digital thermostat for precise temperature and flow control.

Smart Shower: Same requirements as a digital shower, but with smartphone and smart home control.

Power Shower: Requires hot and cold feeds and includes an integrated pump to boost water pressure.

Shower Tower: Requires hot and cold feeds into a single tower unit. Includes luxuries such as body jets.

Outlets

1 Outlet: One shower head that's either fixed or attached to an adjustable riser rail.

2 Outlets: Two shower heads, one wall or ceiling mounted and one handset, that can be used independently or sometimes simultaneously.

3 Outlets: Three shower functions, typically a shower head, a handset, and an additional feature such as body jets or a bath filler, which can be operated separately or in combination.

Water Feed

Ceiling Fed: Ceiling fed showers use pipework that comes through your ceiling. They can be used with one or two shower heads.

Wall Fed: Wall fed showers use pipework that comes through the wall behind the shower. They can also be used with one or two shower heads and are easier to retrofit.

Supply Type

High Pressure / Combi: These systems use a combination boiler which heats mains pressure water and sends it around your home.

Low Pressure / Gravity Fed: These systems usually use a cold water tank in the loft and a hot water cylinder in an airing cupboard.

Temperature Control

Manual: Must be independently supplied with hot and cold water feeds. Temperature and flow are controlled by the user.

Thermostatic: Mixes hot and cold water to selected temperature and adjusts to changes in pressure or temperature of the water supply.

Microprocessor: Commonly used in digital and smart showers. Automatically controls flow and temperature.

Pressure Stabilised: Keeps temperature and pressure consistent. Stops spikes when water is used by other appliances.

Installation Type

Exposed: Pipework, showerheads, and controls are on display.

Concealed: Pipework is hidden behind the wall for a minimalistic look.

Eco Shower

Eco Shower: includes clever water-saving features such as proximity sensors and eco modes.

Power (kW)

8.5kW: 6mm² cable size for ≤18m run. 10mm² cable size for 18-35m run.

9.0kW: 10mm² cable size.

9.5kW: 10mm² cable size.

9.7kW: 10mm² cable size.

10.5kW: 10mm² cable size.

For runs longer than 35m, a qualified electrician should assess voltage drop and possibly use 16mm² cable.

How do I choose the right power (kW) for a Triton electric shower?

Look at the power range available, Triton models here run from 7.5kW up to 10.5kW, because higher kW generally gives stronger flow and better performance. For many UK homes 8.5kW or 9.5kW offers a good balance of flow and cost, while 10.5kW suits you if you want the strongest performance. Bear in mind the electrical cable requirements included in our range: 8.5kW uses 6mm² for runs up to 18m (10mm² for 18–35m), and 9–10.5kW models use 10mm²; very long runs over 35m may need larger cable. Use those figures to match a model's power rating to your wiring and how strong you want the shower.

What's the difference between an electric shower, a mixer, digital or a power shower?

An electric shower heats cold water on demand using an internal element and only needs the cold feed, so it's simple and consistent for homes without stored hot water. A mixer shower blends your existing hot and cold feeds and relies on your boiler or cylinder for hot water. Digital and smart showers also need hot and cold supplies but add microprocessor control and smartphone or smart‑home integration for precise temperature and presets. A power shower uses hot and cold feeds plus an integrated pump to boost weak pressure, so it's better if your water supply is low.

Should I choose a single outlet, a dual‑head or a three‑outlet configuration?

Single outlet showers (the most common here) give you one spray head or a handset on a riser and are ideal for ensuites or compact bathrooms. Dual‑head (two outlets) models, the Danzi DuElec dual head, pair a fixed rainfall or wall head with a handset, letting you use each independently or both together for a luxurious rinse. Three‑outlet setups add body jets or a bath filler so they suit larger family bathrooms or spa‑style layouts where you want multiple functions. Think about how you use the shower: a single handset is practical and economical, while dual or triple outlets give flexibility and a more immersive experience.

Which temperature control type is best: manual, thermostatic, microprocessor or pressure stabilised?

Manual control gives you simple on/off and flow adjustments but needs you to manage hot and cold feeds yourself. Thermostatic control mixes hot and cold to hold a set temperature and reacts to pressure or temperature changes, which is safer if someone flushes a toilet mid‑shower. Microprocessor units are found in digital and smart showers and provide the most precise temperature and flow control and programmable presets. Pressure‑stabilised models keep temperature steady during pressure changes, useful in households where other appliances might affect the supply.

How do I pick a finish and range that suit my bathroom and budget?

Triton offers many finishes, white, black, brushed steel, gun metal, matt black with brass highlights and more, and ranges such as Aspirante, Amore, Amala and ENVi to match different styles. If you have brass taps, the Amala matt black & brushed brass models coordinate well; for a minimalist look, matt black or brushed steel from the Aspirante or Amore ranges works nicely. Price bands also vary: you'll find entry mid‑range Aspirante and Danzi models in the c.the current product price bracket, while feature‑rich ENVi thermostatic or dual‑head models sit around the current product price, so match the finish and features to what you want from the shower without paying for extras you won't use.
