Shower Type

Electric Shower: Requires cold water only. Water is heated by an electrical heating element for hot water on demand.

Mixer Shower: Includes bar mixer, concealed mixer and exposed mixer. These showers require hot and cold feeds that are mixed and differ by installation style.

Digital Shower: Requires hot and cold feeds. Uses a digital thermostat for precise temperature and flow control.

Smart Shower: Same requirements as a digital shower, but with smartphone and smart home control.

Power Shower: Requires hot and cold feeds and includes an integrated pump to boost water pressure.

Shower Tower: Requires hot and cold feeds into a single tower unit. Includes luxuries such as body jets.

Outlets

1 Outlet: One shower head that's either fixed or attached to an adjustable riser rail.

2 Outlets: Two shower heads, one wall or ceiling mounted and one handset, that can be used independently or sometimes simultaneously.

3 Outlets: Three shower functions, typically a shower head, a handset, and an additional feature such as body jets or a bath filler, which can be operated separately or in combination.

Water Feed

Ceiling Fed: Ceiling fed showers use pipework that comes through your ceiling. They can be used with one or two shower heads.

Wall Fed: Wall fed showers use pipework that comes through the wall behind the shower. They can also be used with one or two shower heads and are easier to retrofit.

Supply Type

High Pressure / Combi: These systems use a combination boiler which heats mains pressure water and sends it around your home.

Low Pressure / Gravity Fed: These systems usually use a cold water tank in the loft and a hot water cylinder in an airing cupboard.

Temperature Control

Manual: Must be independently supplied with hot and cold water feeds. Temperature and flow are controlled by the user.

Thermostatic: Mixes hot and cold water to selected temperature and adjusts to changes in pressure or temperature of the water supply.

Microprocessor: Commonly used in digital and smart showers. Automatically controls flow and temperature.

Pressure Stabilised: Keeps temperature and pressure consistent. Stops spikes when water is used by other appliances.

Installation Type

Exposed: Pipework, showerheads, and controls are on display.

Concealed: Pipework is hidden behind the wall for a minimalistic look.

How do I choose the right shower type for my home's water system?

First check your supply: if you have a combi/high‑pressure system, HP/Combi showers and smart/digital options work well; if you have a gravity/low‑pressure system, look for LP models or electric showers that need cold water only. Electric showers heat on demand and are a simple choice when you don't have hot feed pipework, while mixer, digital and smart showers all need hot and cold feeds. If your water pressure is low but you want a strong flow, a power shower with an integrated pump will boost performance. Also note some products are described as "suitable for all systems" if you want maximum flexibility.

I want a two‑head shower, what does "2 outlets" actually mean and how will it work in daily use?

Two outlets means the unit supplies two shower functions, typically a fixed rain or ceiling head plus a handset. You can usually use the handset alone for rinsing or the overhead rain for a spa‑like soak, and some models will let you run both simultaneously for fuller coverage. a rainfall head on the ceiling fed feed with a separate handset gives a luxury feel while the handset remains handy for quick rinses. Check whether the model supports simultaneous flow if you want both running together.

How do I choose the right kW for an electric shower and what cable size will I need?

Match the kW to your desired shower performance and your consumer unit capacity: common ratings include 8.5kW, 9.0kW and 9.5kW in our range. For 8.5kW you'd normally use 6mm² cable for runs up to 18m and 10mm² for runs of 18–35m; 9.0kW and 9.5kW typically require 10mm². If your cable run is longer than 35m a qualified electrician should check for voltage drop and may specify 16mm². Pick a slightly higher kW only if your wiring and fuse can safely support it, an electrician can confirm.

Which finish will suit my bathroom, black, brushed brass or chrome, and how will that affect matching taps and accessories?

Chrome is the classic, reflective choice and is easiest to match across lots of ranges, while matt black gives a bold, contemporary look that suits pale tiles and monochrome schemes. Brushed brass adds warmth and a vintage or luxe feel and pairs beautifully with warm stone or terracotta tiles. Many ranges offer matching showers, taps and accessories so you can coordinate finishes across the room; a brushed brass dual‑head shower will work well with matching brass taps and a warm‑tone vanity.

Do I need thermostatic, pressure‑stabilised or manual temperature control for safety and comfort?

Thermostatic valves are the safest everyday choice because they mix hot and cold to hold your selected temperature and react to supply changes, preventing sudden scalds. Pressure‑stabilised valves are good where pressure balance is important and they help stop temperature spikes when a tap elsewhere is used. Manual controls require you to manage hot and cold yourself and suit simple setups or where you want very basic control. If you're buying for children or vulnerable users, look for cool touch valves which keep the valve surface safe to touch.
