Look at the fan diameter and the flow-rate band to match the space, most stock items are 100 mm and commonly sit in the 20–30 L/s band, which is ideal for a toilet, small en-suite or cloakroom. Larger bathrooms, kitchens or rooms with powerful showers benefit from 150 mm models (about 10 included in our range) that frequently deliver much higher flow, often in the 61–70 L/s range. If you have a long duct run or need more power but limited wall space, some high-performance 100 mm models (the Airflow iCON 30) can give extra capacity. A humidistat combined with a timer is the most effective everyday option because the humidistat runs the fan automatically when moisture rises and the timer keeps it running for a set period after you leave. The range includes several humidistat & timer models, giving automatic, hands-free moisture control and less risk of forgetting to turn the fan off or on. Continuous-run fans are another strong choice if you want constant ventilation in a badly ventilated property. If you have mould problems, prioritise humidistat or continuous operation rather than a basic pull-cord model.

When should you opt for an in-line or shower extractor fan instead of a standard wall/ceiling unit?

Choose an in-line or shower extractor when you need a more powerful, quieter solution or when the fan must sit above the ceiling, our range specifically highlights inline shower extractor fans for above-ceiling installation. In-line mixed-flow units cope well with long duct runs and are often supplied as kits (the Airflow Aventa in-line shower fan with kit and light), so they’re a good fit for loft-mounted installations.
